Description

Black Forest Cherry Pie is a decadent dessert inspired by the classic cake, featuring a flaky crust filled with rich chocolate and sweet cherry filling, topped with whipped cream.


Ingredients

  • 1 double pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 3 cups sweet cherries, pitted (fresh or canned, drained)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Chocolate shavings (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).
  2. Place one pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish.
  3. In a saucepan, combine cherries, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice.
  4. Cook over medium heat until thickened, then stir in chocolate chips and butter until melted.
  5. Pour cherry chocolate filling into prepared crust.
  6. Top with second crust or lattice design and seal edges.
  7. Bake for 40–45 minutes until crust is golden brown.
  8. Cool completely before slicing.
  9. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  10. Top pie slices with whipped cream and chocolate shavings before serving.
