Description

Cheesy Ground Beef Rice Casserole is a comforting baked dish made with seasoned ground beef, tender rice, creamy sauce, and melted cheese, perfect for an easy family dinner.


Ingredients

  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup uncooked long-grain rice
  • 480 ml beef broth
  • 240 ml tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 200 g shredded cheddar cheese
  • 120 ml heavy cream or milk
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add chopped onion and sauté until soft.
  4. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add ground beef and cook until browned; drain excess fat.
  6. Stir in uncooked rice, beef broth, tomato sauce, salt, pepper, paprika, and oregano.
  7. Bring to a light simmer, then remove from heat.
  8. Stir in cream or milk and half of the shredded cheese.
  9. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.
  10. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  11. Remove foil, sprinkle remaining cheese on top, and bake uncovered for 10–15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  12. Let rest for 5 minutes, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve.

Notes

  • Use cooked rice to reduce baking time by 15 minutes.
  • You can add peas or corn for extra vegetables.
  • This casserole reheats well and is great for leftovers.
