Description
A rich and creamy copycat of Chick-fil-A mac and cheese made with a blend of cheddar, Parmesan, and Romano cheeses, baked until golden and bubbly.
Ingredients
- 1 lb elbow macaroni
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded American cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Romano cheese
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Cook macaroni in salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Slowly whisk in milk and heavy cream, cooking until smooth and slightly thickened.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in American cheese until melted.
- Add cheddar, Parmesan, Romano, salt, and pepper, stirring until smooth.
- Fold in cooked macaroni until fully coated.
- Transfer to a baking dish and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20 minutes until lightly golden on top.
Notes
- Use freshly shredded cheese for best texture.
- Do not overbake to keep the mac and cheese creamy.
- Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
