Description

A rich and indulgent chocolate cherry pie featuring a flaky crust filled with sweet-tart cherries and deep chocolate flavor, perfect for holidays or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 1 9-inch pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
  • 4 cups fresh or frozen cherries, pitted
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Fit the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and crimp the edges. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine cherries, sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt. Mix until evenly coated.
  4. Stir in vanilla extract and lemon juice.
  5. Pour the cherry mixture into the prepared pie crust.
  6. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the filling and dot with butter pieces.
  7. Cover with a top crust or lattice if desired, sealing the edges.
  8. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the filling is bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
  9. Cool completely before slicing to allow the filling to set.

Notes

  • If using frozen cherries, do not thaw them before mixing.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for best flavor.
  • Cover crust edges with foil if they brown too quickly.
