Description

Soft, fluffy cinnamon rolls filled with buttery cinnamon sugar and topped with a rich, sweet cream cheese glaze, perfect for breakfast or dessert.


Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk or cream
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add remaining sugar, melted butter, egg, salt, and flour. Mix and knead until a soft dough forms.
  3. Cover and let dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  4. Roll dough into a rectangle. Spread softened butter over the surface.
  5. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle evenly over buttered dough.
  6. Roll dough tightly and slice into 12 rolls.
  7. Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 22–25 minutes until lightly golden.
  9. Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Spread over warm rolls before serving.

Notes

  • Do not overheat milk or it may kill the yeast.
  • Rolls can be prepared the night before and baked in the morning.
  • Best served warm.
