Description
A rich and comforting creamy potato bake made with tender sliced potatoes layered in a velvety garlic cream sauce and topped with golden melted cheese.
Ingredients
- 800g potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a saucepan, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant.
- Add heavy cream, milk, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir and heat gently (do not boil).
- Grease a baking dish and layer half of the sliced potatoes.
- Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes and sprinkle some cheddar cheese.
- Add remaining potatoes, pour the rest of the cream mixture, and top with remaining cheddar and parmesan cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for another 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Let rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
- Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

- Slice potatoes evenly for consistent cooking.
- Use starchy potatoes for a creamier texture.
- Add cooked bacon or onions for extra flavor.
