- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 250 g ground beef
- 250 g Italian sausage (casings removed)
- 100 g pepperoni slices
- 1 cup tomato pizza sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp chili flakes (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Knead into a smooth dough, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).
- In a skillet, cook ground beef and sausage until browned. Add garlic, onion, and bell pepper and sauté until softened.
- Season the meat mixture with oregano, basil, black pepper, and chili flakes. Set aside.
- Grease a deep-dish pan and press the dough evenly into the bottom and up the sides.
- Layer half of the mozzarella cheese on the crust, followed by the meat mixture, pepperoni slices, and tomato sauce.
- Top with remaining mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Letting the pie rest helps it hold its shape when sliced.
- You can substitute mushrooms for part of the meat if desired.
- Use a springform pan for easier removal.
