Description

Ginger Onion Fried Sea Bass is a flavorful Asian-inspired dish featuring crispy pan-fried sea bass topped with fragrant ginger, scallions, and a savory soy-based sauce.


Ingredients

  • 2 sea bass fillets (about 500 g total)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp fresh ginger, julienned
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1/2 tsp sugar


Instructions

  1. Pat sea bass fillets dry and season with salt and black pepper.
  2. Lightly coat both sides with cornstarch.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Place fish skin-side down and cook for 4–5 minutes until crispy.
  5. Flip and cook another 3–4 minutes until fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
  6. In the same pan, sauté ginger for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  7. Add green onions and cook briefly.
  8. Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, water, and sugar.
  9. Simmer for 1–2 minutes.
  10. Pour sauce over fried sea bass.
  11. Serve immediately with steamed rice.

Notes

  • Do not move fish while frying to achieve crispy skin.
  • Adjust soy sauce for preferred saltiness.
  • Best served fresh and hot.
