Description
Glazed Donuts are soft, fluffy yeast-raised donuts fried until golden and coated in a sweet vanilla glaze for a classic bakery-style treat.
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- Oil for frying
- 2 cups powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1/4 cup milk (for glaze)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Dissolve yeast in warm milk and let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Mix in sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt.
- Gradually add flour and knead until smooth and elastic (8–10 minutes).
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1 1/2 hours until doubled.
- Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness and cut into donut shapes.
- Place on a tray, cover, and let rise 30–45 minutes.
- Heat oil to 175°C (350°F).
- Fry donuts 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels and cool slightly.
- Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for glaze.
- Dip warm donuts into glaze and let set before serving.
Notes
- Do not overheat oil to prevent burning.
- Glaze donuts while slightly warm for best coating.
- Best enjoyed fresh the same day.
