Description
Hot Fudge Chocolate Pudding Cake is a classic self-saucing dessert where a rich chocolate cake bakes over a gooey hot fudge sauce, creating a warm, indulgent treat best served with vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (for topping)
- 1 1/4 cups hot water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Add milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract; stir until smooth.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar and remaining cocoa powder, then sprinkle evenly over the batter.
- Carefully pour the hot water over the top without stirring.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, until the cake is set on top and sauce forms underneath.
- Let cool slightly and serve warm.
Notes
- Do not stir after adding the hot water; it creates the fudge sauce.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
- Best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated gently.
- Use dark cocoa powder for a richer chocolate flavor.
