Description

Hot Fudge Chocolate Pudding Cake is a classic self-saucing dessert where a rich chocolate cake bakes over a gooey hot fudge sauce, creating a warm, indulgent treat best served with vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (for topping)
  • 1 1/4 cups hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract; stir until smooth.
  4. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar and remaining cocoa powder, then sprinkle evenly over the batter.
  6. Carefully pour the hot water over the top without stirring.
  7. Bake for 35–40 minutes, until the cake is set on top and sauce forms underneath.
  8. Let cool slightly and serve warm.

Notes

  • Do not stir after adding the hot water; it creates the fudge sauce.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  • Best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated gently.
  • Use dark cocoa powder for a richer chocolate flavor.
