Description
A hearty Irish pub-style burger topped with sharp cheddar, crispy bacon, caramelized onions, and a tangy stout mustard sauce, served on a toasted brioche bun.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef (80/20)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 brioche burger buns
- 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
- 8 slices bacon
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 cup stout beer
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon honey
- Lettuce leaves (optional)
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add butter and olive oil. Sauté sliced onions over medium-low heat for 15–20 minutes until caramelized. Stir in stout beer and cook for 2–3 minutes more. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, mix Dijon mustard and honey to create the sauce.
- Divide ground beef into 4 equal patties. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Grill or pan-sear patties over medium-high heat for 3–4 minutes per side for medium doneness.
- Place cheddar cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
- Toast brioche buns lightly on the grill or skillet.
- Assemble burgers by spreading mustard sauce on the bottom bun, adding lettuce (if using), burger patty with melted cheese, bacon, caramelized onions, and top bun.
- Serve immediately with fries or chips.
Notes
- Use high-quality stout beer for richer flavor in the onions.
- Do not press down on patties while cooking to keep them juicy.
- You can substitute Irish cheddar for extra authenticity.
