Ingredients
- 2 cups whole milk
- 4 oz dark chocolate (70%), finely chopped
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk cocoa powder, sugar, and cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of milk to form a smooth paste.
- Heat remaining milk in a saucepan over medium heat until warm but not boiling.
- Whisk in the cocoa mixture and stir continuously until slightly thickened.
- Add chopped dark chocolate and stir until fully melted and smooth.
- Continue cooking gently, stirring constantly, until thick and creamy (about 3-5 minutes).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and salt.
- Pour into cups and top with whipped cream if desired. Serve hot.
