Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 4 oz dark chocolate (70%), finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Whipped cream (optional, for topping)


Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk cocoa powder, sugar, and cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of milk to form a smooth paste.
  2. Heat remaining milk in a saucepan over medium heat until warm but not boiling.
  3. Whisk in the cocoa mixture and stir continuously until slightly thickened.
  4. Add chopped dark chocolate and stir until fully melted and smooth.
  5. Continue cooking gently, stirring constantly, until thick and creamy (about 3-5 minutes).
  6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and salt.
  7. Pour into cups and top with whipped cream if desired. Serve hot.
