Description
Korean BBQ Meatballs are juicy, flavorful meatballs coated in a sweet and savory Korean-style sauce made with soy, garlic, ginger, and a hint of spice.
Ingredients
- 500 g ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for cooking)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (for sauce)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
- Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) or prepare a skillet.
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, ginger, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper.
- Mix until just combined, then form into small meatballs.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes or pan-fry until browned and cooked through.
- In a saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, gochujang, and rice vinegar. Bring to a simmer.
- Add cornstarch slurry and cook until sauce thickens.
- Toss cooked meatballs in the sauce until well coated.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and extra green onions before serving.
Notes
- Adjust spice by increasing or reducing gochujang.
- You can use ground chicken or turkey as an alternative.
- Serve with steamed rice or noodles.
- Make ahead and reheat in sauce for best flavor.
