Description
Lemon Basil Salmon Rolls are a fresh and flavorful appetizer or main dish featuring tender salmon wrapped with lemon and basil, offering a delightful combination of citrusy, herby, and savory flavors.
Ingredients
- 4 salmon fillets (skinless, boneless)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves (chopped)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional, for extra flavor)
- Fresh lemon slices (for garnish)
- Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
- Wooden skewers (optional, for rolling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with oil.
- Season the salmon fillets with salt, pepper, and garlic powder on both sides. Drizzle with olive oil, then sprinkle the lemon zest over the top of each fillet.
- In a small bowl, mix together the lemon juice, chopped basil, and Dijon mustard (if using).
- Carefully cut each salmon fillet into 3-4 strips, depending on the size of the fillet, keeping them intact at one end (like making a rolled-up shape).
- Brush the lemon and basil mixture onto each salmon strip, ensuring an even coating.
- Gently roll each strip into a spiral and secure it with a wooden skewer if needed, so the rolls stay together during cooking.
- Place the salmon rolls onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is fully cooked and flakes easily with a fork. (The internal temperature of the salmon should reach 145°F or 63°C.)
- Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
- Garnish with fresh lemon slices and basil leaves. Serve warm as an appetizer or over a bed of greens for a fresh main dish.
- Enjoy your delicious Lemon Basil Salmon Rolls!
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the lemon-basil mixture for a slight kick.
- These rolls can be served on their own or paired with a light salad or rice.
- If you prefer, you can grill the salmon rolls instead of baking them for a smoky flavor.
- Make sure not to overcook the salmon to keep it tender and juicy.
