Description
A classic Philly cheesesteak sandwich made with thinly sliced beef, sautéed onions, melted cheese, and served in a toasted hoagie roll.
Ingredients
- 400g ribeye steak, thinly sliced
- 2 hoagie rolls
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1/2 green bell pepper, sliced (optional)
- 4 slices provolone cheese or 1/2 cup Cheez Whiz
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Freeze the steak for 20–30 minutes to make slicing easier, then slice very thinly.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add onions (and bell peppers if using) and sauté until soft and caramelized. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, melt butter and add sliced beef. Season with salt and pepper.
- Cook beef quickly, stirring until browned.
- Return onions to the pan and mix with the beef.
- Place cheese on top and let it melt.
- Slice hoagie rolls and lightly toast them.
- Fill rolls with the beef and cheese mixture.
- Serve hot and enjoy.
Notes
- Ribeye is traditional, but sirloin can be used.
- Cheez Whiz gives an authentic street-style flavor.
- Add mushrooms for extra taste.
- Serve immediately for best texture.
