Ingredients

  • 1 box red velvet cake mix (plus ingredients listed on box)
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese frosting
  • 12 oz white or milk chocolate candy melts
  • 1 tbsp vegetable shortening (optional, for thinning chocolate)
  • Cake pop sticks
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bake red velvet cake according to package instructions and allow it to cool completely.
  2. Crumble the cooled cake into fine crumbs in a large bowl.
  3. Mix in cream cheese frosting until the mixture holds together.
  4. Roll mixture into 1-inch balls and place on a lined baking sheet.
  5. Chill cake balls in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  6. Melt candy melts according to package directions, stirring in shortening if needed.
  7. Dip the end of each cake pop stick into melted chocolate and insert into cake balls.
  8. Dip cake pops into melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off.
  9. Decorate with sprinkles if desired and let set completely.

Notes
