Description
Soft and fluffy cinnamon rolls filled with a buttery cinnamon-sugar swirl and topped with a rich cream cheese glaze. A classic comforting treat perfect for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients
- 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt. Mix well.
- Gradually add flour and knead into a soft dough for about 8–10 minutes.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
- Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle evenly with brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll tightly into a log and cut into 9–12 rolls.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
- Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk to make glaze.
- Spread glaze over warm rolls and serve.
Notes
- Ensure milk is warm, not hot, to activate yeast properly.
- Do not overbake to keep rolls soft.
- Roll tightly for neat spirals.
- Can be prepared the night before and baked in the morning.
- Store leftovers covered at room temperature for 2 days or refrigerate.
