Description

Flaky heart-shaped puff pastry danishes filled with sweetened cream cheese and strawberry topping, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a romantic dessert.


Ingredients

  • 1 package puff pastry sheets, thawed
  • 200 g cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam or strawberry pie filling
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • Fresh strawberries, sliced (optional, for topping)
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar (optional, for sprinkling)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry and cut into heart shapes.
  3. Using a knife, lightly score a smaller heart inside each pastry, leaving a border.
  4. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Spoon cream cheese mixture into the center of each heart.
  6. Add a spoonful of strawberry jam or filling on top of the cream cheese.
  7. Whisk egg with milk and brush the pastry edges with egg wash.
  8. Sprinkle edges lightly with granulated sugar if desired.
  9. Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden and puffed.
  10. Cool slightly and garnish with fresh strawberries before serving.

Notes

  • Do not overfill to prevent leaking.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature.
