Description

Texas Roadhouse Smothered Chicken is a hearty, restaurant-style dish featuring juicy grilled chicken breasts topped with sautéed onions, mushrooms, melted cheese, and crispy bacon.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 200 g mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 120 g shredded Monterey Jack or cheddar cheese
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

Instructions

  1. Season chicken breasts with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Cook chicken for 5–6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, melt butter and add sliced onions. Cook until soft and lightly caramelized.
  5. Add mushrooms and sauté for 4–5 minutes until tender.
  6. Return chicken to the pan.
  7. Top each chicken breast with sautéed onions and mushrooms.
  8. Sprinkle cheese evenly over the chicken and cover the pan until cheese melts.
  9. Top with crumbled bacon and serve hot.

Notes

  • Serve with mashed potatoes, green beans, or a side salad.
  • You can grill the chicken instead of pan-frying for extra flavor.
  • Use mozzarella or Colby Jack as alternative cheeses.
