Description

Voodoo Egg Rolls are crispy, golden egg rolls filled with a bold Cajun-inspired mixture of seasoned meat, vegetables, and cheese, served with a spicy dipping sauce.


Ingredients

  • 12 egg roll wrappers
  • 450 g ground beef or chicken
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar or pepper jack cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (for sauce)
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce (for sauce)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (for sauce)


Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground meat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add garlic, Cajun seasoning, paprika, cayenne, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.
  3. Mix in cabbage and carrots; cook 2–3 minutes until slightly softened.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheese.
  5. Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each egg roll wrapper.
  6. Fold sides inward and roll tightly, sealing edges with a little water.
  7. Heat oil to 175°C (350°F).
  8. Fry egg rolls in batches for 3–4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Drain on paper towels.
  10. Whisk mayonnaise, hot sauce, and Dijon mustard for dipping sauce.
  11. Serve hot with sauce.

Notes

  • Air fry at 200°C (400°F) for 10–12 minutes as a lighter option.
  • Do not overfill wrappers to prevent bursting.
  • Adjust cayenne and hot sauce to control spice level.
