Description
Voodoo Egg Rolls are crispy, golden egg rolls filled with a bold Cajun-inspired mixture of seasoned meat, vegetables, and cheese, served with a spicy dipping sauce.
Ingredients
- 12 egg roll wrappers
- 450 g ground beef or chicken
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- 1/2 cup shredded carrots
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar or pepper jack cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise (for sauce)
- 1 tbsp hot sauce (for sauce)
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard (for sauce)
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground meat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add garlic, Cajun seasoning, paprika, cayenne, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.
- Mix in cabbage and carrots; cook 2–3 minutes until slightly softened.
- Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheese.
- Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each egg roll wrapper.
- Fold sides inward and roll tightly, sealing edges with a little water.
- Heat oil to 175°C (350°F).
- Fry egg rolls in batches for 3–4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Whisk mayonnaise, hot sauce, and Dijon mustard for dipping sauce.
- Serve hot with sauce.
Notes
- Air fry at 200°C (400°F) for 10–12 minutes as a lighter option.
- Do not overfill wrappers to prevent bursting.
- Adjust cayenne and hot sauce to control spice level.
