Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 can (10 oz) diced tomatoes with green chilies, drained
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
- 2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.
- Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Stir in taco seasoning, chili powder, cumin, water, diced tomatoes, salt, and black pepper.
- Simmer for 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Reduce heat and stir in cream cheese and sour cream until smooth and creamy.
- Mix in 1 cup cheddar cheese and Monterey Jack cheese.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.
- Separate biscuit dough and arrange biscuits evenly over the filling.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese over the biscuits.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
- Garnish with cilantro and green onions.
