Description

Creamy Biscuit-Topped Taco Bake is a hearty family-style casserole featuring seasoned ground beef, a creamy taco filling, melted cheese, and fluffy golden biscuits baked on top. This comforting one-pan meal combines the flavors of tacos with the coziness of a biscuit casserole.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 can (10 oz) diced tomatoes with green chilies, drained
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  4. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
  6. Stir in taco seasoning, chili powder, cumin, water, diced tomatoes, salt, and black pepper.
  7. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  8. Reduce heat and stir in cream cheese and sour cream until smooth and creamy.
  9. Mix in 1 cup cheddar cheese and Monterey Jack cheese.
  10. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.
  11. Separate biscuit dough and arrange biscuits evenly over the filling.
  12. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese over the biscuits.
  13. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  14. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  15. Garnish with cilantro and green onions.
