Description
Crispy Air Fryer Honey Butter Chicken is a sweet and savory dish featuring golden crispy chicken pieces cooked in the air fryer and tossed in a rich honey butter garlic sauce.
Ingredients
- 500 g (1 lb) boneless chicken thighs or chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup (120 g) all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tbsp milk
- Cooking spray
- Honey Butter Sauce:
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp chili flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley or green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 200°C (400°F).
- In a bowl whisk together flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- In another bowl beat the eggs with milk.
- Dip the chicken pieces first into the egg mixture, then coat thoroughly with the flour mixture.
- Place the coated chicken pieces in the air fryer basket in a single layer and lightly spray with cooking spray.
- Air fry for 12–15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the chicken is golden and crispy.
- Meanwhile prepare the sauce by melting butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in honey, soy sauce, and chili flakes. Simmer for 1–2 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Toss the cooked chicken in the honey butter sauce until evenly coated.
- Garnish with parsley or green onions and serve immediately.
Notes
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure the chicken gets crispy.
- You can substitute chicken tenders or wings for this recipe.
- Adjust the honey amount for a sweeter or less sweet sauce.
- Serve with rice, fries, or a fresh salad.
