Description
Crispy bite-sized chicken pieces coated in a sticky, sweet and savory honey garlic sauce, perfect as an appetizer or quick dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Oil for frying
- 1/3 cup honey
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar or lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (slurry)
- Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Season chicken pieces with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Set up a dredging station with flour and cornstarch in one bowl and beaten eggs in another.
- Dip chicken into egg, then coat in flour mixture.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry chicken in batches for 4–5 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a saucepan, combine honey, garlic, soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, and vinegar. Bring to a simmer.
- Add the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens.
- Toss the fried chicken in the sauce until evenly coated.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions and serve immediately.
Notes
- Double fry the chicken for extra crispiness.
- Adjust sweetness by reducing or increasing honey.
- Use chicken thighs for juicier bites.
- Serve with rice or noodles for a full meal.
