Description
Shrimp Oreganata is an Italian-American seafood dish featuring shrimp baked with a garlicky breadcrumb topping, olive oil, lemon, and oregano until golden and flavorful.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
- Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and lightly grease a baking dish.
- Arrange the shrimp in a single layer in the prepared baking dish.
- In a bowl mix the breadcrumbs, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Stir in the olive oil, lemon juice, and grated Parmesan until the mixture resembles moist crumbs.
- Spoon the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the shrimp.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes until the shrimp are pink and the topping is golden.
- For extra browning, broil for 1–2 minutes at the end if desired.
- Serve hot with lemon wedges and crusty bread.
Notes
- Do not overcook the shrimp or they may become rubbery.
- Fresh shrimp provide the best flavor, but thawed frozen shrimp work well.
- Serve over pasta or alongside a fresh salad for a complete meal.
- You can substitute panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
