Description

Red Velvet Brownies are rich, fudgy bars with the signature flavor and vibrant color of classic red velvet cake. Topped with a luscious cream cheese frosting, these brownies are soft, chewy, and perfect for holidays, Valentine’s Day, or any special occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract, red food coloring, cocoa powder, and vinegar.
  4. Fold in the flour and salt until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan.
  8. For the frosting, beat the cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
  9. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, beating until light and fluffy.
  10. Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled brownies.
  11. Chill for 20-30 minutes before slicing into squares.

Notes

  • Do not overbake to maintain a fudgy texture.
  • Gel food coloring provides a more vibrant red color than liquid food coloring.
  • Decorate with red velvet crumbs or white chocolate shavings for an elegant finish.
  • For cleaner slices, refrigerate before cutting and wipe the knife between cuts.
  • Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
