- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 banana, sliced for garnish
- Flaky sea salt for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch round cake pans.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Mix in vanilla extract and mashed bananas.
- Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk, mixing until just combined.
- Divide batter evenly between the prepared pans.
- Bake for 28-32 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool cakes completely.
- Whisk banana pudding mix with cold milk until thickened and chill for 5 minutes.
- Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Fold half of the whipped cream into the banana pudding mixture to create the banana cream filling.
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread with half of the banana cream filling.
- Drizzle with 1/3 cup salted caramel sauce.
- Top with the second cake layer.
- Frost the cake with the remaining whipped cream.
- Drizzle the remaining salted caramel sauce over the top.
- Garnish with banana slices and a light sprinkle of flaky sea salt.
- Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
