A festive and sweet Easter treat made with layers of soft cake, fresh strawberries, and whipped cream, shaped or decorated like Easter eggs for a fun holiday dessert.
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, chopped
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 prepared sponge cake or shortcake, cut into pieces
- 1/2 cup cream cheese (optional, for richness)
- Food coloring or decorative sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix chopped strawberries with sugar and let sit for 10–15 minutes to release juices.
- In another bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
- (Optional) Beat cream cheese until smooth and fold into whipped cream.
- Crumble or cut the sponge cake into small pieces.
- Layer cake pieces, strawberries, and whipped cream into egg-shaped molds or small cups.
- Repeat layers until molds are filled, finishing with whipped cream on top.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to set.
- Decorate with sprinkles or colored cream to resemble Easter eggs.
- Serve chilled and enjoy.
