Ingredients
- 8 cups mini pretzels or pretzel twists
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup toffee bits
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or almonds (optional)
- Flaky sea salt for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Spread the pretzels into an even layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and stir in the brown sugar.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and cook for 3-4 minutes without stirring until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
- Pour the hot toffee evenly over the pretzels, gently spreading with a spatula.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee.
- Let stand for 2-3 minutes until the chocolate softens, then spread into an even layer.
- Sprinkle with toffee bits, chopped nuts, and flaky sea salt if using.
- Cool completely, then refrigerate for 30-45 minutes until firm.
- Break into bite-sized pieces and serve or store in an airtight container.
