Description

A flavorful Turkish döner kebab wrap made with seasoned roasted meat, fresh vegetables, and creamy garlic yogurt sauce wrapped in warm flatbread. This popular street food offers a perfect balance of savory, fresh, and tangy flavors.

Ingredients

  • 500 g beef or lamb, thinly sliced
  • 4 large flatbreads or lavash
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 1/2 cucumber, sliced
  • 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. In a bowl mix olive oil, paprika, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Add the sliced beef or lamb and toss to coat evenly with the spices.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the meat for 6–8 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  4. In a small bowl combine yogurt, minced garlic, and lemon juice to make the garlic yogurt sauce.
  5. Warm the flatbreads briefly in a pan or microwave.
  6. Spread a spoonful of garlic yogurt sauce onto each flatbread.
  7. Add cooked meat down the center.
  8. Top with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and red onion.
  9. Drizzle with additional sauce if desired.
  10. Fold the sides of the flatbread and roll tightly into a wrap.
  11. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • Chicken can be used instead of beef or lamb.
  • Add pickled vegetables for extra flavor.
  • A drizzle of chili sauce gives a spicy kick.
  • Lavash or pita bread both work well for wrapping.
  • Serve with fries or a simple salad for a complete meal.
